Paul Junk

B.MUS, UBC

I, Paul Junk, have built my life around the art of classical music. Coming from a musical family, piano, voice and cello were all significant components of my musical upbringing. This led me to a career of wanting to help and guide others to enjoy music as much as I do. Throughout the years, I have been privileged to nurture beginners to more advanced adults.

I am a prairie boy from Saskatchewan where I began formal music lessons at the age of five with piano, voice and later, the cello. I have been a member of many orchestras and choirs. As a teenager I began my piano studies with Robin Harrison, the then-head of the Piano Department at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. As well, it is from U of S that I received a Bachelor of English Degree.

In my early twenties I performed as an accompanist for instrumentalists and singers, was the pianist for Prairie Opera Company in Saskatoon, and played for church services.

In 1990 I moved to the coast to study piano with Jane Coop and Eugene Skovorodnikov at the University of British Columbia. Since graduating, I have helped many students successfully complete their Royal Conservatory exams and hopefully develop their own joy of piano playing and love of making music.

We at Dio Piano School are honoured to have Paul Junk as part of Vancouver’s best piano teachers in our West Vancouver location.
